Hi, I stumbled across this site, as one does on the net, and remembered the great days in the late eighties early nineties when I used to go to Neils Yard and buy muesli and the fantastic wholemeal slightly oily loaf. I would come back the office after my lunchtime visit and everybody wanted to know what that marvellous smelling bread was. At home you only needed a slice with cheese and maybe another with some neils jam and you had a meal. It was a very sad day when the shop was sold to Holland and Barratt and the bread shop closed. I found a Neils Yard shop in Borough Market but alas none of ‘the bread’. I have been trying to make alternative breads these days and wonder if there is a recipe available for that bread or even better a new baker of it. Can you help me..
I found your post by trying to look up the exact same thing. I have never been able to find a recipe for that wonderful wholemeal loaf, that was just as good untoasted as it was toasted. A friend has also tried to replicate it without success. Maybe one day we’ll find a recipe for it…
